I'm thinking of how to leave my mark on this world.

I worked a temp job this week where one of the nice things was being able to listen to the radio.  Unfortunately, this week was the week of the Democratic National Convention.  Living in an area with a large minority population, this meant the radio was pretty much "all Obama, all the time".  Couple this with the fact that I got to see Barack at a town hall the week before in Chesapeake, VA and I began to think.  I had a simple, boring job of repackaging instant tea packets, so the only way to fight boredom and sleep was to either listen to the radio, or daydream and zone out.  I did both and while thinking, I remembered going to college as a Political Science student, and my interest in the government.  I had just finished a philosophy class too, so I had a lot to think about.  In the end I realized I have a lot of opinions, knowledge and beliefs.

I have studied the popular modern philosophers and political scientists.  I also have my own world view.  I thought back to hearing Barack at our local town hall.  He talked about how John McCain thought the economy was fundamentally sound because he has a different world view.  It was at that point I thought about Rousseau and Nozick and Locke and others and realized that I also had a fundamentally different world view.  Then I thought about how Barack joked that he's not poor anymore because 'some of us bought his book'.  That made me think about how all the great thinkers in history wrote books, which later became a part of the educational system.  I came up with a plan.

I'll never be a politician (I don't have the proper 'A-type' personality.  But I do think of myself as a thinker.  I have decided to write a book based on my world view on politics, society, human nature, ethics, religion, and so on.  This will be my greatest achievement in life so far and something to leave my mark on this world, long after I'm gone.  Actually, the fact that I have this plan is a big part of my philosophy.  I believe life takes place in stages.  We have our youth stretching from our teen years through our early twenties.  We think we know everything even though we know nothing.  That is followed by the late 20s, where we mature and find ourselves as people.  The thirties are the prime of life, and the time we have matured, and are still young enough to make great strides in life.  The forties are the time where we should have accomplished enough to reflect and begin affecting our surroundings to make life comfortable for us and our families.  This is where Barack Obama is in life.  The 50s are when we should command the respect of the young and be able to take positions of power easily because of all our gained experience, and beyond that, we should have accomplished quite a bit and begin transitioning from working and contributing to others, to enjoying life and receiving from others.

This is just a rough quick draft, since a lot of our lives is tied into politics, religion, family, etc.  I also, have only experienced the first 29 years of life.  I am embarking on the ambitious 30s by finishing my degree in information Technology, and having these websites, and hopefully this book.  I will try to blog the writing process, or find a book publishing took with blog support.  Check back from time to time.
